New Window Or Old Window That Is The Question
"To be, or not to be, that is the question..." I was reminded of this line, from William Shakespear's play HAMLET, when discussing with a customer about replacing their older windows. So new windows or leave the old ones in?
Typically sellers do not want to replace windows until they have to do so. Even with the invention of slip in vinyl window inserts making the job an easier and less expensive one, why fix what is not broken?
Buyers on the other hand value new windows as being more energy efficient and looking more fresh than that old painted shut, caulking missing in spots, and oh is that a crack?
So, new windows or leave the old? How much do you want to sell your house for? New energy efficient windows look better, reduce energy costs by up to 40%, and can get you a higher price in a faster time when selling your property.
A good benchmark for figuring out whether or not it would be valuable for your sale to replace windows check out this link to home remodeling costs vs the value: http://www.remodeling.hw.net/benchmarks/cost-vs-value/the-2015-cost-vs-value-report_o
