Out With The Old Efficiently
It is springtime, time to clean out the old and bring in the new. This is true for that worn our refrigerator you swore you were getting rid of last year. If it is like my refrigerator it still works, you just don't want it any more. So what can you do with it?
You have several options. One is to give it to a family member or friend. You could use it in a lower level of your home, or in the garage. Maybe bring it out to a cabin to use there. Or you can recycle it.
Working refrigerators and other appliances can be used by other people. You can recycle at your local recycling place, in the Duluth MN area check out http://www.wlssd.com/.
If you go to http://www.wlssd.com/garbage_banned.php#MajorAppliances you will find out that you can not bring refrigerators because of being banned by state, federal, and district laws. So now what?
Well you can donate it to Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Visit their web page and find out how you can donate to them, http://www.twinportshabitat.org/restore As long as the appliance is in working order and not older than 18 years you can donate electric refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, microwaves, and dishwashers. Gas appliances can be donated if approved by the ReStore Manager only.
So go ahead and change out that old refrigerator for a new one. You'll love the new functions and energy savings of the newer models while helping someone else in the process.
