Now is the time to clean up yards. If you live in the city of Duluth, MN and your street has not been cleaned yet, you can help!
The City of Duluth would like to invite residents to dispose of excess road salt, sand or asphalt chunks from sidewalks, curbs, and boulevards at any of the four established Road Sand Collection Sites set up around the City.
Street sweepers collect road sand from the streets as quickly as possible in the spring, but any additional cleanup help from citizens is greatly appreciated. If not picked up before the spring rains, the sand washes into our streams and can damage sensitive trout habitat.
The best way to dispose of road sand is to sweep it up and bring it to one of the four dump sites that the City has set up around Duluth. The collection sites are large, green, roll-off dumpsters marked with a sign. They are open to all Duluth residents to use but are limited to ONLY road sand, salt or asphalt chunks. Sites should be ready by late afternoon April 7 and are located at the following locations:
Chester Bowl Park (near the playground)
Duluth Heights Community Club Parking Lot
Piedmont Community Center (near the hockey rink)
Wheeler Field in West Duluth (in the back)
Please pass this along.
